Energy drinks became one of the most popular beverages among young population today, and the market gets stronger every day. Hundreds of brands, aggressive marketing and a mixture of different stimulants like caffeine, sugar and herbal stimulants like Guarana and Ginseng, make this product extremely payable for manufacturers.
Thanks to their ingredients, especially caffeine and sugar, energy drinks give us a kind of energy boost. We can learn more, feel fresh, be better at sports or beat the sleep deprivation for a while. When those effects fade, we usually drink another one, just to prolong them, to feel good again. Specialists are concerned that could lead to addiction, especially among young population, because it has been noticed that some children suffer from different side effects like headache when they stop taking high amounts of sugar and caffeine.
The Food and Drug Administration doesn’t control the amount of potentially harmful ingredients in those products, because they are under the label of food supplements. And even if we carefully read the list of ingredients, and they aren’t harmful in given serving amount, we should take under consideration the simple fact that one can usually contains more than one serving, and the average teenager will consume more than one can a day.
Some studies in different countries proved that extensive consummation can even lead to seizures, liver damage and all sorts of heart related problems. There is also a concern about potential sugar and insulin balance, taking those large amounts of sugar daily. Considering the fact there is a rising percentage of fat children also, we shouldn’t ignore the amount of sugar in those drinks.
Although one serving of energy drink contain, in average, the same amount of caffeine as can be found in a cup of strong coffee, the problem is that one can usually contains more than one serving. That’s why we should be careful about the facts on the label. All those values don’t seem so high in one serving, but when we take two or three cans every day, together with additional caffeine and sugar in some other products, that may become a real problem.
Taurine and Guarana, as well as other herbal stimulants we can find among ingredients, can really have positive effects on our performance. B vitamin is also good for our health in general. But, we should still keep in mind that the amount taken can have different effects. Especially when we do take all sorts of dietary supplements in other products, and we don’t really always have the actual need for them.
Some medications are also contain the same ingredients, and it’s not always safe to take too much of them. Not to mention combining it with alcohol, and this is popular among the teenagers. Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder diagnosed children maybe won’t have problem with caffeine, but we all know how they will react on too much sugar.
There are some examples of serious dehydration among children and athletes related to over consuming stimulative drinks, because they were not aware of their need for water. Our body needs some essential minerals, vitamins and fluid in order to work properly, and we shouldn’t try to replace healthy, natural food and water with artificial additives and energy drinks.

We grew up with them on Saturday mornings – those loveable cartoon characters and mascots that made us laugh every morning. But now that we’re older and need a cup of coffee or energy drink to power through our mornings, these classic cartoons are still going strong. If they’d grown up rather than staying immortally preserved in the fictional realm, surely Daffy Duck would be sipping on a cappuccino mumbling about how he’s “Getting too old for duck season.” There are still some who should keep away from the extra espresso or energy shot. Just think of how fast the Roadrunner’s heart would beat out of his chest with that extra boost, how much more cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs the that chocolate loving bird would be and how much more vehemently Taz the Tasmanian devil would be saying whatever it is that he’s been trying to say for so many years.
1. Roadrunner: While any good energy drink boasts about its ability to speed up metabolism and improve focus, the Roadrunner certainly doesn’t need it. Capable of running a race against the likes of Speedy Gonzales, this swift cartoon bird was able to run circles around and outwit that poor Wile E. Coyote. While it’s possible that this classic toon could have benefited from a drink full of electrolytes, it’s unlikely that he needed any caffeine to get energy. In fact, the addition of any more energy to his system clearly would have led to cardiac arrest – which would have made Wile E. Coyotes endeavors a more attainable goal.
2. Sonny the Cuckoo Bird: We begged our parents to let us have that delicious chocolate cereal and then enjoyed a bowl during Saturday morning cartoons. The loveable yet manic mascot turned the rest of us cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs, too. But my mother’s biggest fear was that the sugary cereal would get me bouncing off the walls and she could never calm me down. That’s just one good reason why the cuckoo bird that’s become synonymous with cereal should step back from the energy drink before he drives himself into an asylum for taking cuckoo one step too far. Let’s save the energy drinks for the cereal brands that need some spicing up, like Cheerios.
3. Taz the Tasmanian devil: Even the least concentrated energy shot could be dangerous in the hands of the already hyper beast from Looney Toons. From the way he tore through the few cartoon segments that he was featured in, Taz is a creature of mayhem. The last thing he should be doing is unleashing even more of the beast by consuming a can of his preferred fizzy energy drink. The world is a safer place without anyone being concerned that Taz is going to get hyped up and go on a destructive spree. Needless to say, Taz has enough energy in his little toe to power through an entire workday while the rest of us aren’t so fortunate.
Unlike these notable classic cartoons and memorable mascots, the rest of us aren’t fortunate enough to have the day-to-day energy to dodge ACME anvils, chow down on cereal, create havoc everywhere we go and still have time to get everything else done. The rest of us are forced to rely of cans of energy drinks, condensed energy shots, and countless cups of coffee to manage through our mornings. For those of us who need an energy boost, take a hint of inspiration from these animated critters before you select the beverage that’s right for you. It would be a shame for any of you to go cuckoo for caffeine.

I spend a lot of time at the bar and I came up with an energy shot using an energy drink, Vodka and Absinthe. The energy shot that I formed from this energy drink, Absinthe and Vodka is what I like to call, Light Speed Juice. This energy shot will make you faster than the speed of light and set your face on fire. The potency of this combination destroys the Red Bull Absolut mixture with a vengeance.
This energy shot tastes like gooseberry and bacon with a dash of lemon. The taste is unusually unique and the after taste is genuinely comforting. There is nothing like a drink that sets fire to your throat and cools your nerves all in the same shot. An energy drink mixed with alcohol is a charming combination every time it the two are joined together.
I like to believe that the Mixology of certain alcoholic beverages should be recorded and contributed from the ever growing population of social drinkers that like to cook up a variety of unusual drinks. Using an energy drink with an alcoholic beverage is not a new concept but the results with every different test are phenomenal and enjoyable. Mixologists must feel like they are unearthing a new species of fish every time they uncover a new delicious drink.
Selecting an energy drink can be like choosing the holy grail in that Indiana Jones movie: deadly. If the wrong energy drink is chosen then the energy shot could suffer the consequence of tasting pungent and ruining the taste of the drink. Fruity is always good when it comes to selecting the right energy boost for your energy shot. I prefer K-Pax when choosing an energy drink for my energy shot, which is the heart of my Light Speed Juice energy shot.
An energy shot should be taken only once to get energy. Excessive drinking is hazardous. Drinking more than one energy shot could also be unsafe and it is possible to harm yourself further. Energy drinks like Monster and Red Bull are crammed with sugar and taurine and pack quite a punch. Energy drinks should not be taken carelessly.

I am sure you have seen all the various commercials for 5 hour energy drinks or energy shots. It is amazing how commercials can make something so fascinating. I remember when I first saw a 5 hour energy commercial I was really considering buying one for the next morning. This all changed when I actually decided to do research about the product. After much research i realized that 5 hour energy drinks is not the best choice for many reasons.
If you are an athlete please do not devour a five hour energy drink. The reason being is that as an athlete the last thing you need is a huge shot of caffeine. Caffeine affects heart rates so if your planning on participating in activities that are difficult on the heart it is not a good idea. This can lead to an heart attack if not correctly dealt with. In other words if you plan on playing in a basketball game do not drink a five hour shot.
Furthermore if you are a person that has a history of heart problems like high blood pressure or heart murmurs do not drink five hour energy drinks. By consuming a five hour energy drink your just enhancing the chances of making it worse for yourself. Also, be certain persistent use of excess energy boosts can lead to other blood related problems later on in your life on top of what you have already have. Certain things like this are not alluded to in the commercials which can be crucial for someone to know if they want to try the product.
Another reason why you should avoid 5 hour energy drinks is the possible risk of being addicted to them. Keep in mind addiction to anything is harmful let alone being addicted to caffeine. If your addicted and then decide not to drink caffeine for a day you will undergo what is called withdrawals symptoms. Which can include but not limited to headaches, restlessness, and exhaustion. Furthermore a more extreme danger is that energy shots like 5 hour can lead to insomnia which is no fun to have.
With that said it is obvious that 5 hour energy drinks can lead to some danger to your health. In my opinion I would avoid even drinking them and find a better option. Also stay away using energy shots or energy drinks when you plan to workout because it can lead to dehydration. Although energy shots or energy drinks seem like the in thing to use when you need to get energy, please make sure you take safeguard. The reason being you do not want to be another victim of the dangerous craze.
