One of the latest entries into the exploding energy drink arena is “A.C.T. Energy”, manufactured by M2C. At first glance A.C.T seems like just another energy drink aimed at those of us seeking that extra lift to get us through the day. That is, until one reads the label. We expected to see the typical caffeine/sugar combination present in most energy drinks, A.C.T. contains neither. The A.C.T. ingredients label reads more like a fruit juice/vitamin/amino acid cocktail drink rather than an energy drink. M2C bills their drink as “the first healthy energy drink” and judging by the label, it does indeed seem healthy, but is it the “best energy drink”?

The promise made by most energy drinks is that of increased energy. Unfortunately, most fall short of that promise. While it is true that the typical caffeine/energy combo will provide you with a jolt for a couple of hours, it is usually a jittery, hyper reaction and not the energy boost that one would expect. This is the typical reaction attributed to caffeine/sugar before you come crashing down. Not a good experience and certainly not a healthy one. With A.C.T. lacking these typical ingredients, we wondered how effective A.C.T. would be.

Before we rate A.C.T.s’ effectiveness, let’s talk about how it tastes. Let’s face it, most energy drinks are an acquired taste but once again, A.C.T. surprised us. Upon popping the top of the 12 ounce can, a slight berry flavor was evident. Our first sip was pleasantly sweet with only a hint of carbonation. We were surprised at the level of sweetness given the fact that A.C.T. has no corn syrup or chemical sugars. It is sweetened with stevia which is a zero carb natural sweetener many times sweeter than sugar. The refreshing taste of A.C.T. made us doubt whether it would live up to its “best energy drink” claim. An energy drink that tastes great and provides sustained energy? Read on.

Within minutes of drinking A.C.T. we felt what could only be described as a blissful feeling of calm energy; a feeling of being more alert and focused. This renewed energy continued, amazingly, for approximately seven hours at which time its effects gently wore off.

Be advised that this is not one of our typical energy drink reviews by any means, but then A.C.T. is not your typical energy drink. It’s no wonder that professional athletes are endorsing this product.

M2C has indeed hit one out of the park with A.C.T., not only in our estimation but also in the sales figures that have been released to date. A.C.T.s’ natural ingredients, great taste, and long lasting energy boost is certainly deserving of the title “best energy drink!”
